Recertification

Emergency First Aid & CPR and Standard First Aid & CPR

 

Course Outline Summary

6.5 hours (in class time requirement)

According to the WSIB requirements for First Aid providers, all Compulsory Modules taught in an EFA and an SFA recertification. This certification expires every 3 years.

Compulsory Modules

The following topics must be covered:

  • Roles & Responsibilities of the First Aider

  • Casualty management – Unresponsive, Casualty Management Conscious with Head/Spinal

  • Adult Resuscitation – Choking, CPR, and AED

  • Severe Bleeding and Wound Care

  • Medical Conditions

  • Burns

Recertification for

CPR / $85

First Aid CPR / $150

BLS / 95

Standard & Emergency First Aid & CPR

Course Outline Summary

13 hours

According to the WSIB requirements for First Aid providers, all Compulsory Modules are taught in an EFA and on day 1 of an SFA. Elective Modules are taught on Day 2 of an SFA. This certification expires every 3 years.

Compulsory Modules

The following topics must be covered:

  • Roles & Responsibilities of the First Aider

  • Casualty management – Unresponsive, Casualty Management Conscious with Head/Spinal

  • Adult Resuscitation – Choking, CPR, and AED

  • Severe Bleeding and Wound Care

  • Medical Conditions

  • Burns

Elective Modules

In addition to the compulsory modules, a minimum of 8 elective modules are required and suggested modules include:

  • Secondary Survey

  • Child and Infant Resuscitation

  • Two Rescuer CPR

  • Bone and Joint Injuries

  • Chest Injuries

  • Eye Injuries

  • Multiple Casualty Management

  • Poisoning

  • Environmental Illness and Injuries

  • Rescue Carries

Group Rates available

CPR training is included with all first aid courses.  Certification cards are issued to students who successfully complete these courses. The Heart and Stroke Foundation recommends annual retraining as CPR is an important life skill. Individuals who have taken a CPR course qualify to take retraining courses anytime thereafter. 

BLS CPR Courses

We deliver both Basic and Advanced Cardiac Life Support Courses. BLS Courses are delivered at two levels.  BLS are courses appropriate for the general public and BLS (HCP) are courses that are designed for the Health Care Professionals.  Below is a list of available CPR Courses.

BLS

Course Outline Summary: 4 Hours

  • Introduction to first aid

  • Emergency scene management

  • Angina and Heart Attack

  • Stroke

  • CPR—Adult

  • Deadly Bleeding

  • Choking

  • Jaw thrust

  • Pulse check

  • Rescue breathing—adult, child, and baby

  • BVM—adult, child, and baby

  • Two rescuer CPR—adult, child, baby

  • Alternative method infant

Completion Requirements:

  • 100% attendance, skills demonstration, and 75% min. a passing grade on the written exam
